The main conference site, The Stockholm School of Economics, is equipped with state of the art technology, but the newness and limited resources of the main organizer, e-t+t, means that we must restrict the conference to 120 papers. Again, this organizational constraint is meant to be an opportunity, a way to realize the productive potential in the current model of disciplinary research. The expansion of 'hyperlinks' on the Internet, and the rise of 'networks' generally as a means of social, professional, and psychic connection: these are well established models of connectivity. This weaving of social and professional networks, implicit in all the SLSA has done, will be explicit in the conference organization in 2010.
The academic programme is accompanied by an exhibition and art-as-research stream in Riga and the coastal city of Liepaja.
In order for participants to develop their projects in close coordination with the stream organizers, we will set an early deadline for abstract submission (15 September 2009). As a novum also- to allow for in-depth discussion at the conference itself - finished papers will circulate in advance. A selection of papers will be published in the Yearbook of the Rodopi book series Experimental Practices as well as on electronic book review .
So as to ensure that all discussions remain open to the membership at large, and to continue the organization's growth (especially of its European branch - the recently launched SLSA-EU), we will accept applications from respondents and discussants on specific topics, along with panel proposals (which are to be preferred over individual paper presentations) and/or roundtable discussions. Furthermore, we encourage panels with up to 5 speakers, short papers or position statements, and a close focus on a single concern. Note that panel proposals consisting of three or four papers should include an abstract for each speaker, along with a short description of the overall theme. For panels with 5 and more inputs, the names and description of the panel are sufficient.
